There are currently no restrictions in place for entry to Costa Rica.

Where can I get a PCR or antigen test within 24 hours?

While the antigen test can be obtained within hours in most clinics, there are no options that can get you a PCR test result within 24 hours. Most will take 48-72 hours and require an appointment beforehand. Here is a list of all Covid-19 testing locations in the area. A popular option in downtown Puerto Viejo is Laboratorio Bioclinic Puerto Viejo. RT-PCR test is (around $130), with the results emailed to you in less than 48 hours. Antigen test (around $61) results are delivered in 2 hours.

Can I get vaccinated here as a foreigner?

Unfortunately not. Vaccines against Covid-19 are only available for permanent and temporary residents who are in status.

Check if you need a travel visa here! Visa-required nationalsĀ are exempt if they already hold a valid tourist visa for: USA, Japan, South Korea, Canada or EU. Most travelers will get a 30-day visa on arrival. This can be extended for another 60 days. If you want to stay longer than 90 days, consider applying for:
