There are different types of internet coverage you can get for your home in Mexico City: fiber optic, satellite internet and cell internet service (unlikely to be enough for remote workers.) If having fiber optic internet is important for your work, make sure to stay in the neighborhood where that type of internet is installed. Depending on which fiber optic internet company installed the infrastructure to support it in your neighborhood, purchasing a plan with them will be your best bet.
Getting to and from the airport
Metro ($0.20 | 50min to the city) This is the most affordable and often fastest option to get to Mexico City downtown. The Metro station is just a short walk from Terminal 1, follow the "Metro" signs. This is not a great option if you have heavy luggage, or if you arrive during rush hour (6-9AM/6-9PM). If your flight lands late at night, Uber is a safer option.
By MetroBus ($1.50 | 30min to the city) Take the ride directly from Line 4 Metrobus in front of Terminals 1 & 2. There's a new bus leaving the airport every 15mins, but make sure to purchase Metrobus smartcards at the airport.
Taxi ($15 | 20min to the city) Uber is the easiest way to get to Mexico City via taxi. There are also taxis waiting in from of Terminals 1 & 2 at all times.
Uber (Android | iOS) Easy Taxi (now acquired by Cabify) (Android | iOS)
Mexico City Metro App & Route Planner gives you an overview of everything you need to know to use public transport in the city. (Android | iOS) If you don't want to limit yourself to the metro system, try Moovit. It will show you different routes including all public transport in the city.
Ecobici is an easy way to hop on a bike and explore the city. Econduce is another option. If this is your first time in the city, it's best to avoid riding a motorbike. The traffic in the city is incredibly difficult to navigate and the locals often don't follow the rules.
Renting a car or going with a tour bus is your best option.
