El Paredon — The most popular beach town on the Guatemalan Pacific Coast and a great surf destination, only 2 hours away from Antigua.

Weekend trip (>2 hour drive from the city)

Semuc Champey — A natural limestone bridge over the Cahabón River, with stepped, turquoise pools.

Lake Atitlan — Lake Atitlán is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Guatemala, and was nominated as one of the seven wonders of the world.

Volcan Acatenango — While it is possible to hike Acatenango in a day, the best views of Volcan Fuego are at night, when you can clearly see the red-hot glowing lava. This is why most tour operators offer an overnight hike.
